How to Register a Participant with Scouts Canada

Before You Begin

A) Be prepared to include personal information about your youth. Specifically, 3 emergency contacts, information such as Provincial Healthcare Number, insurance details, Dr.'s contact information, allergies, dietary restrictions, medical conditions & special care instructions.
B) Method of payment. Paying fees are the final step when completing registration. Acceptable methods of payment are credit card; Visa, Mastercard and AMEX, debit and PayPal.
C) Completing registration on a desktop or laptop rather than mobile device is recommended.

Browse to myscouts.ca/join

Browse to https://myscouts/join

1. Click Let's get started!, and the page will scroll to the bottom.

Click Let's Get Started for the 2nd time

1.Select Let's Get Started> again. The designers really want to be sure you want to get started.

Enter Email Address

1. Enter your email address.
2. Select OK.

Enter Parent Information

1. Enter the a parents name, language address and phone numbers.
2. Click checkbox beside "I'm not a robot"
3. Select Next.

Enter Password

If you don't already have a MyScouts account with the email address you entered, you will now be prompted to supply a password.
1. Enter your password
2. Enter your password again
3. Select OK.

Enter Child's Name and Contact Information

Enter Information about the child (participant)
1. Enter Name, Email Address, Address and phone information
2. Indicate any requirements that Scouters (volunteers) should be made aware of.
3. Select Next.

Enter Medical Information

1. Enter Medical details of the child (participant)
2. Select Next.

Enter Emergency Contact Information

1. Enter 1 to 3 Emergency contacts.
2. Select Next.

Add 2nd Parent

If the youth has a 2nd parent, please add them. This information will save volunteers from having to collect and enter it later.
1. Select Add New Parent.

Affirm addition of 2nd parent

1. For some inexplicable reason, you must select Add a New Parent again.

Add Details about 2nd parent

1. Enter information about the 2nd parent
2. Select Add.

Move to Next Stage of Registration

After adding additional parent(s):
1. Select Next

Select Program Nights

The site will suggest the closest Group based on the entered Postal Code and selected days of the week.
1. Select the nights of the week that the participant is seeking a program for.
2. If this is the Group you wish to register with, select Select this Group.
OR
Sometimes, other groups may have more room, or take less time to travel to. If you wish to see all options:
2. Select See All Groups.

Select A Group

A map of nearby Scout Groups will be displayed, and numbered by order of proximity to the postal code entered. The Group you wish to register with may not be first, after considering travel time, meeting time or day of the week. Groups shown in red are full, but may have room if you're willing to volunteer.

Below the map is a section of the web page dedicated to each nearby Group, with more information.

Use the map (and potentially scroll your screen) to find the part of the web page that pertains to your desired Scout Group.
e.g. In the example above, if you were looking for 1st Carp or 1st Kanata, the options are visible in the top of the list. If you are looking for 1st Stittsville or another Group, you will have to scroll down.

1. If your desired Group does not have any remaining spaces available, select Wait Select the desired Group.
OR
1. Select Select this Group

Sign Up

NOTE: If you wish to register a 2nd child, now is the most efficient time to do so. In that case, select Add Child. Some of the previous steps will be repeated for the next child.

Having entered the parents' information, child(ren)'s information and selected a Group, confirm the participant's registration by:
1. Check the Sign Up checkbox to the right of the child's name, if it is not already checked.
2. Select Continue.

Indicate Areas of Interest in Assisting

Note: Groups are looking for volunteering in all forms and levels of commitment. Please consider checking I am willing ot work with youth or I am willing to work in an administrative capacity., so someone can contact you and find out more about how a role can be found that fits your needs. .

1. Check all checkboxes that apply.
2. Click on any areas of interest that apply.
3. Select Continue.

Terms and Conditions

1.Select Yes in the drop down boxes to agree to various Scouts Canada policies.
2. Enter your name.
3. Select Yes to indicate that you are a legal guardian.

Optional Donation

1. Indicate whether you'd like to make a donation.
2. Select Continue.

CheckOut

Note: if you were given a Group Billing Code, enter it in the box and select Add.
1. Select Checkout.

Enter Payment Details

1. Select a Payment Method
2. Enter the credit card details or other credentials.
3. Select Make Purchase

Receipt

If your purchase is successful you will be brought to your receipt. If the processing of the payment was not succesful, you will be notified immediately.
At the bottom of the page you will see the option to close - this completes your registration!
1. Select Close.

Registration is Complete!

Congratulations!

Once registration is complete, you will be logged into your MyScouts dashboard.

1. Check the status of participant by clicking on the My Family tab. If the status is pending, it is likely that payment was not completed.

From this screen, you can
i) Change registration information (contact, emergency, medical, photo options)
ii) Print a Membership Card
iii) Register another member of your family
iv) Complete a payment (see next step)

Resume an Incomplete Registration / Complete a Payment

1. Select the Incomplete Registrations tab.
2. If an incomplete registration appears, select the RESUME button.

You will be taken to an earlier step in this tutorial, where the registrtation was in progress.
